Scholarships & Tuition Assistance
Music lessons for your children, grandchildren and yourself are now
within easier reach. The Chelsea Center for the Arts has expanded our
music scholarship and tuition assistance program to give families a helping
hand.
Each year, a limited amount of financial assistance is available to
fund whole or partial tuition for applicants for lessons, as funds
are available. To date, eighteen students have benefited from scholarship & tuition assistance.
We have three sources of scholarship funding:
CCA Scholarship General Fund
Established in 2008, the board of directors and volunteers raise funds through special events such as Jazz & Chocolates and individual contributions from donors. This is a need-based scholarship.
The application process (see below) is currently available only for Private Music classes. Scholarship funds are also used to underwrite visual arts classes.
Aziza Ghori Memorial Scholarship
In September 2003, the Aziza Ghori Foundation made a $2,000 grant to the Chelsea Center for the Arts to endow a Scholarship in perpetuity in Aziza's name and to honor her love for the arts.
The endowment funds an annual grant to a 5th grade student from the Chelsea school system who is enthusiastic about the arts and shows promise as an artist.
The grant is for a one-week summer camp or a six-week Fall/Winter session. To introduce the grant, a one-time youth workshop for all elementary school-aged students was held in November 2003.
This scholarship is awarded in conjunction with a 5th grade art teacher in the Chelsea School District.
Moore Pediatrics Scholarship for Early Childhood Programming
Established in 2009, funds are available for young children who are just beginning their artistic exploration. This is a need-based scholarship. Contact the CCA office if you are in need of additional funds - aubrey@chelseacenterforthearts.org or amythyst@chelseacenterforthearts.org.
Eddlene Statfield Memorial Scholarship
Established in 2010, this scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior who has participated in Chelsea High School's Theater Guild and plan to continue higher level education in the theater arts - either on or off-stage.
CCA Private Music Scholarship Application Process
Applicants must demonstrate financial need and express a passion for
learning music or growing his or her ability. Recipients must commit to volunteer 10 hours of time to the CCA during each session in which they are receiving tuition assistance.
(10 hours during the 22 week Winter-Spring semester, 10 hours during the
12-week Summer semester and 10 hours during the 16-week Fall semester.)
Scholarships will be awarded to applicants who live within the service area of the Chelsea Center for the Arts (Chelsea and the surrounding communities). This scholarship program is designed to off-set the cost of classes and lessons that are offered through Chelsea Center for the Arts. There are no age restrictions.
